Vinça Monadé

Vinça Monadé remembers the simplicity of Catalan towns. As she works, she often thinks of the obvious way in which Romanesque architecture fits into the landscape, into nature. An engraver and silkscreen printer since the 1980s, she has recently found, in ceramics, a way to freely break away from frontality. Now, she aspires to work truly in situ, in and on the site, echoing its architecture. Combining simple stoneware volumes, Vinça Monadé works on volume as much as on material. Both are treated with simplicity. The material must remain painterly, and the artist seeks to imprison light within the volume.
