Fanny Richard

Fanny Richard returns to sculpture with a vengeance. Her current focus is on the face as a bodily fragment, but above all as a symbol of identity and a privileged space for emotional expression. The face embodies the particular within the universal. Through the theme of the face, Fanny Richard is interested in the determinisms (socio-political, environmental...) that shape the moods and expressions of each individual. She expresses this variable through the material itself, premeditating conflicting relationships (black stoneware and porcelain, engobes under or over glaze) that inevitably result in cracks and gaps, expected, tamed or accentuated. In this way, Fanny Richard continues on the path of experimentation that has always guided her.
