Zoé Moineaud
Zoé Moineaud explores the cognitive disorders associated with the symptoms of dementia. Her focus is on Alzheimer's disease, which has afflicted the women in her family from generation to generation. In what spatio-temporal dimension can we interact in the face of disappearing memories and the impossibility of projecting ourselves into the future? How can we prepare for the potential arrival of symptoms? The artist strives to depict the perpetual transformation of the organism. She composes matter intuitively: her gestures are instinctive and respond to sensations, never forgetting that by continually repeating them she will always be able to reproduce them. The memory of touch is the only one that is truly preserved in the face of disease. These free forms bear witness to the way in which the artist works: her body is fully engaged in the sculpture. This is how she creates archives for the future. Like smoothly curved steles, levitating monuments, Zoé Moineaud's works are veritable celebrations of memory, imprints of consciousness and existence. This ambivalence between the present, its anchorage and the faded memory, is released in space. She proposes landmarks that translate the living. Like coral, her organic forms swarm and unfold in a natural, dynamic way. The sculpted moments, like suspended metamorphoses, reveal the surpassing of self. Julie Camdessus
