Cecil Kemperink

There are many ways of representing the hyper-connected world in which we live. This is what Cecil Kemperink metaphorically proposes with his structures made of interlaced rings in stoneware or porcelain. His works are akin to ceramic chainmail, taking an infinite number of forms, flat, open or closed, from the simplest to the most complex. Such works are halfway between sculpture, textile and jewelry. Despite a fairly simple basic element - a colombin forming a ring whose diameter can vary within the same set - the artist develops a formal vocabulary that questions both the surrounding space and her own body in movement.
