Galerie Vallois Art Moderne et Contemporain was founded by Robert Vallois in 1983. Located in Paris, in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, it now has two spaces at 35 and 41 rue de Seine, in the immediate vicinity of the Art Déco gallery, founded in 1971 by Robert and Cheska Vallois, and managed by Cédric Destailleur and Camille Bloc respectively.

Initially dedicated to modern and contemporary sculpture, the gallery has gradually broadened its scope to include other media. Today, it accompanies artists from a wide range of practices - painting, photography, sculpture - from international art scenes. This openness reflects a constant desire to explore a diversity of forms and sensibilities, while maintaining a high curatorial standard.
Ceramics occupy a central place in the gallery's programming. The gallery promotes a number of artists for whom this medium is a privileged field of experimentation. These include Tania Antoshina (Russia), Philippe Brodzki (Belgium), Mark Brusse (Netherlands), Paloma Chang (Taiwan), Euloge Glèlè (Benin), Lee Hoffman (USA), King Houndekpinkou (France/Benin), Yuri Kuper (Russia)...
The focus on ceramics is a natural part of the gallery's history, the medium having already played a major role in the Art Deco period. However, this continuity is as much a matter of historical logic as of a genuine personal attachment, shared by Robert and Cheska Vallois and their gallery directors, to the expressive richness and ever-renewed modernity of ceramics.
