Contemporary ceramics show
2022

The 2022 C14 PARIS trade show is a resounding success

After an absence of two years, C14 PARIS successfully reopened its doors to the public, hosting a selection of works over 4 days that more than lived up to the ambition of the show, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2023: to offer connoisseurs and professionals in the art world a new perspective on ceramics, a medium that is both truly innovative and now fully legitimate in the contemporary art world. Questioning the material, the sculptural gesture, the emotional charge of a work or its relationship to space, this 18th edition gave some thirty ceramic artists the opportunity to present their work, but also, and above all, to exchange ideas with the public.

The resurgence of entries received, and their very high level of quality, also shows the real relevance of the event's positioning, which is keen to present ceramics in its new formats and cutting-edge techniques, whether through installation, association with video, photography or sound... the use of 3D printing and new so-called additive techniques. A contemporary cabinet of curiosities, functioning a little like a research laboratory, the show explored the full diversity of a material that has once again become noble, transcending the usual artist/craftsman divide.

By spotlighting talent that is not always visible, and sometimes even hidden, C14 PARIS affirms its vocation as a trailblazer in the field of contemporary ceramics, and today seems to be well identified, both by exhibitors and by the ever-growing public of connoisseurs and regulars of major art events. As this year's winners attest, Kee-Tea Rha (Jury Prize), Claire Lézier (Prix Résidence), and Thibaut Renoulet (Prix Galerie), who have surprised us with their creative audacity and the new light they shed on the use of clay, often breaking with tradition to take us on a journey of discovery.

The show team is delighted to have been able to count on talented partners: the gallery The Bear's skin (Brussels), the Bruckner Foundation (Switzerland) and, above all, for its commitment and renewed support, the City of Paris and the Mairie du 14ème arr. de Paris.
