It was only very recently, in 2023, that ceramics caught the eye of Robin Kerr. He systematizes his formal approach. He starts with a common form, such as a vase or pot. Once this basic architecture has been acquired, he applies himself to making it lose its functionality by distorting it and adding more handles than necessary. It's all about accumulation. This abundance of handles is rare in contemporary ceramics. While his work inevitably brings to mind George E. Ohr, Jeanne Bonnefoy Mercuriali and even Clémentine Dupré, recent decades have tended to eschew this difficulty in favor, it is said, of formal purity.(...)
