Oleg de la Morinerie's porcelain is offered to the eye as if on a dissecting table or a goldsmith's workbench. Their preciousness lies in a few convolutions, a few secrets they keep to themselves. Finely modelled and chiselled, they reveal nothing of what they are made of, and move forward without skeletons. One might think of them as casts of soft flesh or flaccid bodies, but they're not. "The mollusk is a being - almost a quality," wrote Ponge in his poem of the same name.
