Matthieu Lallau

Matthieu Lallau feels the need to say that he's not a member of the elite, that he's built himself through art and art history in reaction to the absence of inherited "cultural capital" (Bourdieu). Like many, he still carries the weight of class guilt. His world is one of shaken, torn intimacy, of an interiority marked by Spleen and doubt. We may be surprised by the apparent eclecticism of the works on offer, whose purpose is not to converge on a single story, but rather to isolate narrative epiphenomena, all of which are united by their allegorical scope.
