Icaro Maïterena

Icaro Maïterena creates works that owe as much to geology as to biology. "Metaphors of the vital, of the vibrations that run through the body", his sculptures call out to the hand, palpable because they are felt for a long time, ample even in small format. They seem as much mineral, vegetable as animal, strangely alive, still traces of what was experienced during a process of kneading and reductive cooking that could be described as animistic. (...)
